Insurance groups uk Questions and Answersbest insurance group in the UK for under 21?Q) Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knew the best insurance group in the UK for a driver whose is under 21.
My fiancee is looking at a 1.1 Fiesta Zetec and is wanting 3rd party pinch and burn but everywhere is quoting friggin' thousands.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
A) My daughter got third party only for under £400 on a fiesta from elephant.com. She was 17 and had just passed her test. It was the cheapest quote we got.
But the best thing to do is look at some of the comparison sites. Here are a few:

My boyfriend is looking for a new car, he found a nice rover something or other and he wants to know how much insurance will cost he searched on the internet and found the exact car he had viewed the day before and it said "insurance group 5" can anyone shed some light on what this means Thank you
Oh and does anyone know how big of a job it would be if the head gasket is blown?
(the head gasket hasn't blown but rumours are rovers are prone to blown head gaskets and i was wondering how big of a job it would be to fix)
Thanks
A) Agree with first answer RE Insurance groups.
Rovers - good cars, cheap now the company has gone bust, but there are rumours of a Chinese company ressurecting the MG brand.
Head Gaskets - yes the K-series engine fitted to most Rovers is prone to head gasket failure. Most likely due to lack of proper maintenance or abuse of the engine (hard accelerating etc). Have a look at the service history at the dealers and ask if it has had a recent gasket change. If it has, no problem. If it hasn't, look for the usual signs of head gasket failure under the bonnet - creamy oil gunk on the inside of the oil filler cap, over-pressurising of the cooling system or streaks where water has leaked out down the engine block. If all looks good, give it a go. I think the £800 estimate is a bit large, you're most likely looking at about half of that if you take it to a non-dealer garage. It will take them probably a whole day to fix it.
Failing that, buy a Honda Civic. It'll never break down!

A) Changing a head gaskett is by the looks of it quite a big job. Not one to do yourself unless you have a mechanical mind. The only problem if you take it to a garage is the cost. They will charge you at least £600. to do the job, including parts and labour.
My Rover 200 is soon to blow its head gasket.
Its unfortunate because apart from that, they are really good cars. Insurance is cheap, and they are cheap to run. Plus good cars to drive. The engines, for their age and size, are powerful and economical. What group insurance is a Mitsubishi FTO GPX Mivec, in the UK?Q)

http://www.parkers.co.uk/insurance/groups/Private test drive (UK) - how does insurance work?Q) I'm intending to test drive a car in the near future which is group 19 insurance (privately, not from a garage). I'm 21 and currently insured 3rd party fire and theft on my current car. the cars owner is insured fully comp on it. Am I covered to test drive that car? If not, what are my options? Thanks!
A) Under normal circumstances you are not covered.
Be very wary of driving a car without insurance cover, getting permission from the owner to drive the car does not necessarily mean that you are covered by the owners insurance .
Options:
Sit next to the owner of the car while he drives (cheap + not the best).
Try and get your own for insurance for the test drive ask your current insurer (be warned it may be expensive).
Ask the owner of the car if he can register you as a named driver for the day and come to some kind of financial agreement for paying the extra cost, if the owner is keen to sell then maybe they will not mind.
Option 3 also lets you know how keen the current owner is to sell and may give you some bargaining options if you decide that you wish to buy.
Good Luck

http://www.parkers.co.uk/insurance/Groups/by-group.aspx?ig=2
it is a group 2 insurance, so my question is how much will this cost me per year or whatever i am on a really tight budget and would of prefered a group 1 insurance car, my nan has a bmw and wants to give me that in her will =(
But i dont want her to because i wont be able to afford it, ive told her to give it to my uncle who will be able to afford it but she insits on giving it to me, how can i make her change her mind.
sorry about the 2 questions in 1 folks, answer which ever one you can
thankyou
A) I have no idea on how much the insurance will cost you, I'm trying to find out something similar !
As for your nans will, if she insists on you having it - Your just going to have to have it.
However, try putting her off giving it to you - Say to her straight out that you will sell it and keep the money for yourself.
If she still insists on you having it then she obviously wants you to have it rather than anyone else in her family have it.
Maybe your uncle, who you say can afford to keep the bmw up and running, she may not want to give it to him.
Anyway good luck. How to verify foreigner's identity?Q) Someone from UK wants to rent a apartment. He said he works with an UK major insurance group. He will stay in the states for a year to do a survey for his company. He is going to give me some money. He asks me to give part of the money to someone who is in charge of his relocation. I am looking for some ways to varify his identity and his income. Does anyone know how?
A) This a scam.
The only money that is real is yours.
Your scammer has cooked up this bogus story that he needs YOUR apartment but has only one check (or money order) and wants you to a) cash it and b) send money to him before the bank figures out that it's a stolen or fake check. At that point the bank wants 100% of their money back.
Don't fall for it.Temporary Insurance for 18 yr olds - How can I make this work?Q) I go to Uni and want to use my mothers car wen i'm back at home in the hols. Trouble is I'm only 18 and the car is a VR6 Highline, with UK group 16 insurance. It'll cost me about 2000 for a yearly permanent insurance policy, but id prefer just to go on my mothers policy temporary if itd b cheaper. For instance i could pay for her insurance on the car permanently for about 150 pound and maybe get on as a temp driver occasionally for probably a lot of money each time. Any ideas?
A) Not sure about over there, but most policies in the states will cover another licensed driver given permission by the policy holder to operate the vehicle for short periods of time. For instance, if you were taking a trip and needed to spell someone on the policy, you would be covered. If you were visiting and just ran to the store, you would be covered. Check with the agent that wrote the policy for full explanation of the conditions. What would be a good car to buy as a first car?Q) I'm 17, female and want a small used car with a small engine, it has to be pretty efficient and safe. Forgot to mention I can spend up to about £2500-£3000 (about $6000USD)
A) Recommend a car for under £4000 and less than Group 13 Insurance - looking for something sporty & reliable!?Q) I am really struggling to find anything decent. I am open to suggestions as long as I can pick the car up for less than £4k and the insurance isn't about group 13.
Would preferably like something a bit sporty and with a bit of power to it. I am a 23 year old man who is looking to upgrade from his Renault Clio to something a bit more upmarket.
Please only cars that are available in the UK so no old Transams or Chevys =)
